Hawaii Kai ballot-deposit site remains open through Honolulu primary

Hawaii Kai Park and Ride remains open as an official Honolulu ballot-deposit site through the Aug. 8, 2026, primary election, giving East Honolulu residents a nearby listed location to return completed ballots.

The site, at 240 Keahole Street in Honolulu, is open daily in accordance with park hours from July 17 through 7 p.m. on Aug. 8, according to the Hawaiʻi Office of Elections’ 2026 election proclamation.

Completed ballots for the primary must be received by 7 p.m. on Aug. 8. The City and County of Honolulu Elections Division calendar also lists that ballot-receipt deadline for the primary.

Officially listed place of deposit

The statewide proclamation identifies Hawaii Kai Park and Ride as a City and County of Honolulu place of deposit for the 2026 primary election. The designation means the location is available for ballot deposit during the stated period; it is listed by election officials as a place of deposit.

The primary election itself is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8. At Hawaii Kai Park and Ride, the deposit period ends at 7 p.m. that day, matching the deadline for ballots to be received.

Schedule and deadline

Election officials set the Hawaii Kai Park and Ride availability period from July 17 to Aug. 8. During that span, the site is open daily under park hours. The official proclamation does not specify exact daily opening and closing times.

Voters using the site should account for the 7 p.m. ballot-receipt cutoff on Aug. 8. A ballot deposited after that deadline would not meet the stated primary-election receipt deadline.

The Hawaiʻi Office of Elections published the 2026 proclamation on May 11, listing the Hawaii Kai location and its ballot-deposit schedule. The Honolulu Elections Division’s calendar, published July 1, separately confirms the Aug. 8 primary schedule and 7 p.m. deadline.

What East Honolulu voters should know

Hawaii Kai Park and Ride is one designated ballot-return location available during the final week before the primary. The official materials do not say that all East Honolulu voters must use the site, do not identify it as the only ballot-return option in the area, and do not provide a count of ballots deposited there.

For voters planning to return a completed ballot at the Hawaii Kai site, the key dates are the July 17 opening of the deposit period and the 7 p.m. Aug. 8 receipt deadline. The next known election milestone is the Aug. 8 primary itself.
