Manchester expands Tuesday clerk hours ahead of Sept. 8 primary

Manchester’s Office of the City Clerk will extend its Tuesday hours beginning Aug. 4 to assist residents with voter registration and absentee-ballot requests ahead of New Hampshire’s Sept. 8, 2026, state primary.

The office will remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each Tuesday through Tuesday, Sept. 1, according to a City of Manchester announcement published Aug. 3. The expanded schedule is an administrative access change announced by the city clerk’s office; the notice does not describe a vote, ordinance or other legislative action connected to the hours.

Four Tuesdays of extended access

The extended Tuesday schedule begins Aug. 4 and continues through Sept. 1. Residents seeking to register to vote or request an absentee ballot can use those additional hours at the City Clerk’s Office at One City Hall Plaza in Manchester.

The city identified voter registration and absentee-ballot requests as the purposes of the added hours. The announcement does not provide an estimate of how many residents are expected to use the extended schedule.

It also does not identify particular local races or say whether any contests are contested. The city’s notice confirms that the state primary is scheduled for Sept. 8, one week after the final listed extended Tuesday hours.

For the primary-related change, the next listed date is Sept. 1, the final Tuesday with hours scheduled to run until 8 p.m. The state primary follows on Sept. 8.
