Little Rock candidate filing remains open through Aug. 5 for mayor, six board seats

Little Rock’s municipal candidate filing period remains open until noon Aug. 5 for the Nov. 3, 2026, election for mayor and six seats on the City Board of Directors.

The ballot will include the mayoral office and representative positions in Wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7, according to the City of Little Rock. The seven offices will be decided in the November election, and those elected are scheduled to take office Jan. 1, 2027.

The filing window opened at noon July 29. The deadline is a filing deadline, not an election result or certification of candidates. The city’s filing information does not provide a current list of people who have filed, and it does not state whether any candidate has been disqualified or withdrawn.

What prospective candidates must submit

Prospective candidates must file in person at City Hall, 500 West Markham St. The Pulaski County Election Commission directs Little Rock municipal candidates to the city clerk’s office for filing.

To qualify, a candidate must be a registered voter, be at least 21 years old and have lived in the city for at least 30 days. Each candidate also must submit a petition containing at least 50 signatures from qualified city electors.

The city does not require a filing fee. That distinguishes the petition requirement from a fee-based filing process: candidates must meet the signature threshold even though no fee is due to enter the filing process.

Disclosure deadline follows filing close

Financial-interest disclosures are due no later than Aug. 10, five days after the candidate filing period closes. The disclosure deadline is separate from the noon Aug. 5 deadline for submitting candidate filing materials.

The election will determine who holds the citywide mayoral office and represents the six listed wards on the Board of Directors beginning in 2027. The city identifies the offices as nonpartisan; the available filing information does not establish party affiliation for any prospective candidate.

With the filing period set to close at noon Aug. 5, candidates seeking a place on the ballot must complete the city’s stated requirements before that deadline.
