Leon County voters have until Aug. 6 to request a mail ballot for Aug. 18 primary

Leon County voters who want to vote by mail in the Aug. 18, 2026 primary have until Aug. 6 to request a vote-by-mail ballot, according to the Leon County Supervisor of Elections.

The deadline comes before the county’s early-voting period, which is scheduled for Aug. 8 through Aug. 16. Election Day for the primary is Aug. 18.

Voters who plan to use a mailed ballot should make their request by the Aug. 6 deadline. Voters who intend to cast a ballot in person have the scheduled early-voting period before the primary, or may vote on Election Day at their assigned polling place.

Some Election Day assignments have changed

Some Leon County voters will have new precincts or Election Day polling places beginning with the Aug. 18 primary. The change does not apply to every voter, and the elections office has not provided a count of affected Tallahassee residents in its public notice.

The Supervisor of Elections said voters affected by the changes were mailed updated voter-information cards. The office also provides an online way for voters to verify their assigned polling place.

That verification is particularly important for voters planning to cast their ballot on Aug. 18, because the public notice concerns Election Day precincts and polling places. A voter’s ballot and assigned polling place depend on the voter’s registration address and party or precinct.

Key dates for the primary

Aug. 6 is the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot. Early voting is scheduled to begin two days later, on Aug. 8, and continue through Aug. 16. The primary follows on Aug. 18.

The elections office reported 182,811 active registered voters in Leon County as of July 28, 2026. Its election resources identify the Aug. 18 primary as the next countywide election date covered by these deadlines and polling-place changes.

For voters deciding how to participate, the immediate action is to request a mailed ballot by Aug. 6 if they want that option. Voters who plan to vote in person should check their current Election Day assignment, especially if they received an updated voter-information card.
