Grand Rapids voters can still register in person before Aug. 4 primary

Grand Rapids voters who did not register by the July 20 online and mail deadline can still register in person with the local clerk through Election Day, Aug. 4, for the city’s next election.

The City of Grand Rapids Clerk’s Office published the remaining registration and voting schedule for the Aug. 4, 2026 primary. The schedule sets out a final in-person registration option for eligible voters who need to complete registration after the regular deadline.

In-person registration continues through Election Day

From July 21 through Aug. 4, registration must be completed in person with the local clerk, and voters must show proof of residency. The regular deadline for registration by mail or online was July 20.

The clerk’s office also planned Saturday hours on Aug. 1, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for voter registration. The city’s election information identifies City Hall, at 300 Monroe Ave. NW, as the clerk’s office location.

The state’s election guidance provides statewide context for August primary voting and describes registration and voting procedures that extend through Election Day. For Grand Rapids voters, the city clerk’s notice specifies the local in-person registration process and proof-of-residency requirement during the final period.

Ballot-return options listed

The city lists six 24-hour ballot-drop-box locations as ballot-return options. The clerk’s published information does not, in the reviewed material, provide absentee-ballot totals, turnout figures or results for the primary.

Nor does the reviewed city election notice identify every contest or candidate that may appear on Grand Rapids ballots. The notice is an election-administration update, rather than a report on campaign activity or the competitiveness of particular races.
