Final advance-voting hours set before Aug. 4 Kansas primary
The Johnson County Election Office has scheduled the final advance-voting session before Kansas’ Aug. 4, 2026, primary for 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 3.
The session is the last scheduled opportunity identified by the county for voters to cast an advance ballot before Election Day. The Aug. 4 election is a partisan primary for Kansas’ two recognized major parties and will determine party nominees for the November 2026 general election.
Registered Johnson County voters may use any county advance-voting location. For voters seeking a site in Overland Park, the Election Office lists the Arts and Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., and Hilltop Conference Center Blue Valley, 7700 W. 143rd St.
Voter requirements and countywide access
Voters casting ballots in person must present valid government-issued photo identification, according to the Johnson County Election Office.
The two Overland Park facilities are listed advance-voting locations, but they are not presented as the only options available to county voters. The county says any registered Johnson County voter may vote at any advance-voting site.
The Aug. 3 noon closing time is significant because it ends the county’s scheduled advance-voting period ahead of the Aug. 4 primary. The primary is a nomination-stage election, not an Overland Park municipal election. Its stated purpose is to choose nominees for the later November general election.
Election Day follows final advance session
Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 4. The approved Election Office materials identify the date and the primary’s role in selecting nominees, but they do not provide turnout figures, candidate-specific results or winners as of Aug. 3.

Separate City Council meeting scheduled
Also on Aug. 3, the City of Overland Park calendar lists a City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. The calendar says the meeting is scheduled to consider recommendations from the July 2026 Planning Commission meeting.
That evening council meeting is separate from the county-administered advance-voting session and from the Kansas primary. The Johnson County Election Office, rather than the city’s council calendar, provides the schedule for advance voting and the requirements for in-person voters.
For eligible Johnson County voters who intend to vote before Election Day, the noon end time on Aug. 3 is the final scheduled advance-voting deadline listed in the approved county materials.
