Jefferson City schools set August registration dates for returning and new students

Jefferson City School District has scheduled in-person registration events at its school buildings ahead of the 2026-27 school year, with secondary registration set for Wednesday, Aug. 5, and elementary registration planned for Thursday, Aug. 6.

Both registration events are listed from noon to 7 p.m. at the respective school buildings. The district’s published schedule does not identify a single central registration site.

Separate dates for secondary and elementary schools

Secondary-school students and families are scheduled to register on Aug. 5. Elementary-school students and families are scheduled to register the following day, Aug. 6. The listed seven-hour windows are the same for both events.

The district had previously announced that returning-student registration for the 2026-27 year opened March 10, 2026. The August events are the registration dates now listed on the district’s homepage for secondary and elementary schools.

The published notice does not say whether the Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 events are required for every student or are intended for particular student categories. It also does not list documents or other materials that families should bring.

Open house follows on Aug. 13

The district also lists an open house for sixth-grade students, ninth-grade students and students new to a secondary building. That event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The open house is distinct from the Aug. 5 secondary registration event. The district’s listing identifies the Aug. 13 gathering for students entering sixth or ninth grade and for those who are new to a secondary school building.

Jefferson City School District says it serves an early childhood center, 11 elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, an alternative school and a career center. The registration schedule therefore covers elementary and secondary school buildings across the district rather than a single campus.
