Target opens in Frankfort’s $150 million Paddocks development
Target has opened its new Frankfort store, becoming the first business to begin operating in the $150 million Paddocks mixed-use development near the U.S. 127 and Interstate 64 interchange.
The new store held its ribbon cutting July 21, 2026. Franklin County said the 128,000-square-foot location is expected to employ about 200 people.
The opening is the first confirmed operating component of the larger Paddocks project. It also establishes the first announced retail destination at the 95-acre development in Frankfort’s west end.
A new store and development milestone
The Paddocks is described by the county as a $150 million mixed-use development. The site is near the U.S. 127 and I-64 interchange.
Target’s store includes a CVS, a Starbucks Café and electric-vehicle charging stations. Those amenities are part of the Target location that has opened, rather than separate Paddocks businesses identified for future openings.
The county’s estimate of about 200 jobs applies to the Target store. It is an expected employment figure, not a reported count of filled positions, and the county did not provide a total employment estimate for the full Paddocks development.
More businesses are scheduled to follow
Franklin County said BJ’s, Texas Roadhouse, Chipotle, Panda Express and a Wawa gas station are scheduled to open soon at the Paddocks.
Those businesses were listed as future openings in the county announcement; the announcement did not say that they were already operating. It also did not provide individual opening dates for those businesses or a full schedule for development build-out.
As a result, Target’s July 21 opening is the confirmed next step already completed, while the timing of the remaining named retailers, restaurants and gas station has not been announced.
What the opening means now
For Frankfort residents, Target is now the first open business in a development planned to bring several additional commercial options to the interchange-area site. The county has not provided dates for when those options will become available.
The opening also marks the beginning of operations at a project measured at 95 acres and valued at $150 million. The announced Target store provides a major retail presence at the site, while the broader development remains in progress as additional tenants are scheduled to open.
Residents and customers can distinguish between what is open now and what remains planned: Target, including its CVS, Starbucks Café and electric-vehicle charging stations, is operating following the July 21 ribbon cutting. The other named businesses remain scheduled to open soon, with no specific dates released by the county.
