  • Indiana publishes HIP work-requirement rollout details ahead of 2027 coverage reviews

    Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration has published implementation information and beneficiary notices for Healthy Indiana Plan work requirements that may apply to some members beginning Jan. 1, 2027.

    Members subject to the requirement may have to meet it to keep coverage, unless they qualify for an exemption. The notice generally identifies HIP members ages 19 through 64 as covered by the requirement, while also providing for exemptions.

    FSSA listed its release, “Indiana Announces Implementation Details for HIP Work Requirements,” on July 6, 2026. The beneficiary notice gives members a timeline for when the work requirement and related renewal reviews will begin.

    Compliance checks begin with certain April renewals

    For renewals on or after April 1, 2027, members who are subject to the rule must show either compliance with the work requirement or an exemption for each of the preceding three months.

    The Jan. 1 start date does not mean every HIP member will face the same review at the same time. Whether the requirement applies to an individual member depends on that person’s exemption status and renewal date.

    HIP renewal schedule will change
