Alaska’s Aug. 18 nonpartisan primary will set four-candidate field for governor’s race
Alaska’s statewide primary is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2026. Under the state’s nonpartisan primary system, the four highest-placing candidates in the governor and lieutenant governor contests advance to the Nov. 3 general election, which uses ranked-choice voting.
