  • Missouri emergency order for severe storms and flash flooding is set to remain in force through Aug. 10

    Missouri’s emergency order for severe storms, flooding and flash flooding is scheduled to remain in effect through Aug. 10, unless it is extended.

    Executive Order 26-16, issued by Gov. Mike Kehoe on July 10, declares a state emergency and activates the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan. The order authorizes state agencies to assist affected jurisdictions.

    The order says severe storms, flooding and flash flooding began July 9. It also says interruptions to public services were occurring or were anticipated.

    The governor’s office identified central, south-central and southeastern Missouri as affected regions. It reported impacts to homes, roads and campgrounds, as well as multiple swift-water rescues.

    Some areas received 6 to 12 inches of rain, according to the governor’s office. Missouri Task Force 1 deployed 50 members along with equipment and rescue boats, the office said.

  • MoDOT schedules mid-Missouri roadwork and flood-damage bridge repairs

    The Missouri Department of Transportation has published its planned roadwork schedule for July 27 through Aug. 2 and says a repair plan has been finalized for the flood-damaged Route 49 bridge over Dry Creek in Crawford County.

    MoDOT’s Central District released the information in an announcement dated July 24 from its Jefferson City office. The roadwork schedule and bridge-repair update are separate parts of the agency’s notice.

    MoDOT said the Route 49 bridge over Dry Creek closed July 10 because of flood damage. The bridge is in Crawford County, not Jefferson City.

    The department reported that it had finalized a repair plan for the bridge. Finalizing the plan does not mean repairs have been completed. The supplied MoDOT materials do not provide a reopening date.
