Boston Public Schools opens summer transition center for Class of 2026

Boston Public Schools has opened a Postsecondary Transition Support Center for members of the Class of 2026, providing a short-term summer site for students seeking help with college enrollment, financial aid, employment and other post-graduation transitions.

The new center opened Aug. 3 at the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building in Roxbury. It is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.

Students can access the service through in-person or virtual advising appointments. The announced schedule gives students a limited window to receive assistance before the center’s posted operating period ends.

College and workforce support

The center combines college, career and workforce-transition assistance in one program. Available services include help with college enrollment and financial aid, career-pathway exploration, job applications, résumé reviews and interview preparation.

Students also can receive workforce-training referrals and connections to transition advisers. The services are designed for students considering multiple next steps, including further education, training and employment.

Workshops at the center include financial-aid counseling, program information sessions and on-the-spot admissions opportunities. BPS has described the initiative as serving both college-focused and workforce-focused transitions rather than a single postsecondary path.

Partners and next step

BPS is leading the initiative in partnership with Boston University’s PATH Advising Program and the Boston Private Industry Council. The center is an operating summer initiative, not a proposal awaiting approval.

The next known milestone is the end of the published operating period on Aug. 7. The available announcement does not provide a budget figure, a number of students served or projected participation, and it does not report college-enrollment or employment outcomes.

Those limits mean the announcement does not establish the program’s effects or whether the center will continue after Aug. 7. For now, Class of 2026 students can seek advising on enrollment, aid, job applications, training referrals and career preparation during the remaining weekday hours, either at the Roxbury site or through virtual appointments.
