Carson City mails 2026-27 property-tax bills; first installment due Aug. 17

Carson City has mailed real-property tax bills for the 2026-27 fiscal year, and the first installment is due Aug. 17, 2026, according to the Carson City Treasurer’s Office.

The tax year runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The Treasurer’s Office announced July 21 that the bills were ready and said property owners should receive them within 15 days of that announcement.

Owners who had not received a bill by July 31 were told to contact the Treasurer’s Office to request a duplicate.

Installment schedule

Bills totaling more than $100 may be paid in four installments. The listed due dates are Aug. 17, 2026; Oct. 5, 2026; Jan. 4, 2027; and March 1, 2027.

The installment option applies to bills over $100. The city’s notice also cautioned owners to determine whether their mortgage lender or an impound account is responsible for making the property-tax payment. That means an owner who receives a bill should verify the payment arrangement tied to that property rather than assume a direct payment is required from the owner.

Information included with bills

The bills include each parcel’s property-tax-cap status. The accompanying materials also promote the free Recording Notification Service and provide information about homesteading property.

The Recording Notification Service is included among the notices sent with the tax bills, alongside the property-tax-cap status and homesteading information. Property owners can review those materials as they check the bill and confirm who will make the payment.

What is known — and what is not

The announcement establishes payment dates and describes the installment option, but it does not state the total amount billed across Carson City or the number of parcels affected. It also does not identify a change in tax rates.

The immediate next step identified in the notice is payment of the first installment by Aug. 17 for eligible bills being paid on the four-installment schedule. Later installment dates are Oct. 5, Jan. 4 and March 1. Owners should also check whether a lender or impound account pays the bill and seek a duplicate from the Treasurer’s Office if the bill was not received by the stated July 31 deadline.
