Allen County sets Aug. 3 filing deadline for qualifying Libertarian town candidates

Allen County’s 2026 candidate guide lists Aug. 3, 2026, as the deadline for qualifying Libertarian Party candidates to file or withdraw a declaration of candidacy for nomination by a Libertarian Party town convention.

The deadline is limited to certain town offices, not all races in Allen County. It applies in towns with populations under 3,500 that will elect some or all town offices in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.

The county guide does not identify a candidate who filed or withdrew by the deadline. It also does not support treating the date as a filing deadline for Fort Wayne municipal offices.

What candidates were required to submit

A candidate using this Libertarian town-convention filing route must submit a Statement of Economic Interests with the declaration of candidacy, according to the guide. The declaration and accompanying statement are part of the candidate-filing process for the qualifying small-town offices described in the county calendar.

The Aug. 3 date covers two distinct actions: filing a declaration of candidacy and withdrawing one. It is a procedural deadline for a particular nomination route, rather than a countywide deadline for every prospective candidate or office.

For eligible candidates, meeting the filing requirements is tied to the process for appearing on the Nov. 3 general-election ballot. The available county materials do not establish that any individual candidate has qualified for a ballot position, withdrawn from consideration or been challenged.
