Indian Prairie District 204 sets August start for superintendent-search input

Indian Prairie School District 204 is scheduled to begin the community-input phase of its 2026-27 superintendent search on Aug. 18, when an online survey is set to open for community members and stakeholders.

The survey is scheduled to remain available through Sept. 12. It is the next published step in a search process that will culminate, under the district’s current timeline, with a selection announcement during the week of Dec. 15.

Input and interviews scheduled

In addition to the online survey, the district’s schedule calls for focus groups and constituent interviews in late August and early September. The published timeline does not specify the number of applicants or finalists expected in the process.

The public-input period comes before the board’s formal review of candidates. The Board of Education plans to review applicants during the week of Oct. 20, followed by semifinalist interviews during the week of Nov. 3.

Those dates are planned stages rather than completed actions. The district’s published schedule also indicates that the process can proceed through finalist interviews and negotiations before the targeted December announcement. The board has not set a specific day for announcing its selection in the materials provided for the search timeline.

A process centered in Aurora

District 204’s Board of Education and Crouse Education Center are located at 780 Shoreline Drive in Aurora. The superintendent search is therefore a pending leadership decision for a public-school district with its administrative and board center in the city.

For families, staff members, residents and other stakeholders, the survey and planned focus groups are the scheduled opportunities to provide input before the board moves into its applicant-review stage. The district has characterized the survey period as running from Aug. 18 through Sept. 12; the published schedule could change before the survey opens.

What happens next

The immediate next step on the district’s timeline is the survey opening on Aug. 18. Focus groups and constituent interviews are then planned for late August and early September, with board review of applicants targeted for the week of Oct. 20.

The timeline does not identify an eventual number of candidates, finalists or a particular announcement date. It sets a sequence of planned milestones, with semifinalist interviews in November and a selection announcement targeted for the week of Dec. 15.
