Community Clinic proposes acquiring Baptist Health primary-care clinics in Fort Smith area

Community Clinic has announced a letter of intent to acquire Baptist Health primary-care clinics in the River Valley, including multiple Baptist Health Family Clinic locations in Fort Smith.

The proposed transaction is not complete. Community Clinic said it remains subject to review by the Health Resources and Services Administration, regulatory approval and the execution of a definitive agreement.

The June 30 announcement identifies clinics in Fort Smith, Alma and Greenwood as part of the proposed deal. Community Clinic did not state how many Fort Smith locations are involved, a purchase price, a closing date or the expected effect on employees.

Proposed expansion into the River Valley

If completed, the acquisition would establish Community Clinic’s first presence in the River Valley. The organization said the proposal is intended to expand access to its whole-person-care model.

For people who receive primary care at the affected Fort Smith-area clinics, the announcement signals a possible future ownership change rather than an immediate confirmed service change. The release did not announce clinic closures, revised hours, staffing changes or patient instructions.
