Concord schedules citywide water-system leak survey through Aug. 3
Concord has contracted with American Leak Detection to conduct a citywide survey of the city’s water-distribution system for hidden leaks, with field work scheduled from July 27 through Aug. 3, 2026.
The city announced the work July 24 as a proactive maintenance effort intended to support water conservation and maintenance of Concord’s public water system. The announcement does not report that a leak has been found.
Work may occur during daytime and overnight hours
Technicians may conduct the survey during the day and could also work overnight, when traffic is lighter, according to the city. The announced field-work period ends Aug. 3.
Concord has not identified which neighborhoods crews will visit on particular dates. The notice also does not provide a daily work schedule or say where technicians will be working at a given time.
American Leak Detection is performing the work for the city. The survey covers the City of Concord water-distribution system rather than a single identified water main or neighborhood.
Four types of infrastructure are included
Crews will use specialized listening equipment to inspect four listed parts of the system: water mains, service lines, hydrants and valves.
The inspection is intended to look for hidden leaks in those parts of the distribution system. The city has not announced survey findings, including whether technicians have identified leaks during the scheduled work period.
The notice describes the project as maintenance, not an emergency response. It does not include an estimate of potential water savings from the survey.
State grant funds the survey
Funding for the project comes through a Leak Detection Survey Grant from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, according to Concord General Services.
The city says the grant-funded survey is designed to advance water conservation and infrastructure maintenance. It has not described potential follow-up repairs, a public results report or another announced step after field work is scheduled to conclude Aug. 3.
For now, the known next deadline is the end of the announced survey window. Any findings or subsequent work would require a further city announcement.
