Wichita airport announces new nonstop Southwest service to Nashville beginning in March 2027
Southwest Airlines plans to begin nonstop service between Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport and Nashville International Airport in March 2027, adding Nashville as a direct destination from Wichita.
Wichita’s airport announced the planned route on July 16, 2026. Tickets became available through Southwest that day, according to the airport’s announcement.
The service will connect Wichita’s ICT airport with Nashville’s BNA airport. The announcement identifies March 2027 as the start period, rather than providing a more specific launch date.
New nonstop option from Wichita
The route expands Wichita’s commercial air-service network and gives travelers using the south-central Kansas airport another nonstop option. The airport characterized the service as an addition to its air-service portfolio.
Airport Director Jesse R. Romo said the Nashville route strengthens that portfolio and adds travel options for passengers. Southwest representative Hudson Hadd said the airline is continuing to expand its partnership with Wichita.
The airport also said recent passenger activity has reached record levels. Its announcement did not include a passenger total or a numerical comparison with prior periods, so the scale of that increase was not specified.
Details still to come
Southwest has announced the route and its March 2027 start period, but the airport’s release did not specify how often the flights will operate, what aircraft Southwest will use or the operating schedule.
Those details will shape the departure and arrival choices available to passengers once the service begins. The announcement did not describe the service as daily.
Travelers can already purchase tickets through Southwest. Beyond the March 2027 launch period, the airport’s announcement did not provide a detailed timetable for the new Wichita-Nashville service.
The airport did not publish estimates for passenger volumes, jobs or other economic effects associated with the route. The confirmed development is the planned new nonstop connection between Wichita and Nashville.
